JIMMY DONALDSON BRINGS BACK ‘SUPERMARKET SWEEP’ FOR YOUTUBE
Greenville, N.C. – In a sweeping move, Jimmy Donaldson is bringing back the popular hit game show Supermarket Sweep, but with a whole new twist to Youtube.
“I grew up watching Supermarket Sweep and always thought, ‘This is great, but what if we made it significantly more stressful and put a bunch of influencers in there?’” said Donaldson. “Then I realized we could also hide money in the baked beans. It’s going to be epic”
The game will be hosted in a Wal-Mart HQ in a secret location. Players will be selected content creators across various social media platforms. Prizes vary from a $24,000 gift card that expires in 15 minutes, a bottle of Great Value ranch or a Wal-Mart plus membership, and there’s a sweet bonus round if you can make it through.
Fans of the show will get to watch their favorite creators have their flabbers-gasted, as they tear through the aisles, throwing groceries into carts like rent was due yesterday. Because this isn’t your mom’s or your grandma’s Supermarket Sweep.
This is YouTube, which means the stakes are weirder, the challenges are dumber, and there is probably a camera hidden somewhere inside the piñatas.
Of course there is a catch……..
Right when contestants think they’ve cleaned out the store and secured their prize, Jimmy pulls the ultimate plot twist: the game isn’t actually over, it hasn’t even begun. First, you have to dress a mannequin in a full outfit from the clothing department while riding a motorized shopping cart while singing brand jingles.
Then you have to solve a riddle written on a rotisserie chicken but the next one isn’t ready for 5 minutes. And then you have to get through an inflatable obstacle course in the middle of the cereal aisle.
And then you unlock the bonus round. The contestant is given 60 seconds to find one very specific item hidden somewhere in the store. Sounds easy, right? Wrong.
The item is a single can of Great Value baked beans but the store has been filled with 10,000 cans of baked beans. Some are real, some are decoys. One has $100,000 inside.
And somewhere in the store, there is a man dressed as a baked bean whose only job is to lie to you.
“I want to be very clear,” said Donaldson. “The bean guy is not helping them.”
When asked why the contestant couldn’t simply be told which can contained the money, Donaldson reportedly stared at the reporter for several seconds before responding:
“Why would we do that?”
The contestant who finds the correct can wins the grand prize plus some fun Beast swag. The contestant who grabs the wrong can gets $14.99 and a Walmart gift card that expires while they’re still standing there.
Sorry I made this up, this isn’t happening guys. But it could…..
Story is completely fictional and satire. Please do not believe any of this or ask Jimbo if you can be a contestant.
